It is for this reason that Bike Pure exist, to help protect the next generation of riders. During 2010 we will be working on our ‘Future Champions Program’. The initial element of this will be a code of ethics agreement between the team/coach of a young athlete in their care, to protect the safety and health of the rider. Please feel free to email us with your improvements of further recommendations.

Bike Pure -Future champions program Code of Ethics:

1. Respect the right, dignity and worth of every athlete in your care, regardless of gender, ethnic origin, ability or religion.

2. Ensure the athlete’s time is your team is a positive and rewarding experience. All athletes are deserving of equal attention & opportunities.

3. Treat each athlete as an individual. Respect the talent, development stage and goals of each athlete. Help each athlete reach their full potential
- Be fair, considerate and honest with athletes
- Be professional and accept responsibility for your actions

4. Provide and record a training and racing program which is planned and sequential,

5. Monitor the physical health of the athlete to ensure development and maintained health and training load recovery.

6. If accommodation is provided for the athlete, ensure it is a safe and caring environment. There should be available methods to contacts the athletes family and full exposure to healthy living requirements of food, heat, clothing and available recreation.

7. Education must be provided to your athletes on drugs in sport in consultation with the WADA banned list.

8. Any substances given to an athlete must be explained to the athlete (an where required to the guardian, and consent obtained) A record must be kept of the substance and dosage.

9. Any physical contact with athletes shall be; – Appropriate to the situation -Necessary for the further development of the athlete’s skill .

10. Refrain from any form of verbal, physical & emotional abuse towards the athletes

11. Refrain from initiating a relationship with an athlete & discourage any attempt by an athlete to initiate a sexual relationship with you.

12. Do not expose your athletes to unnecessary risks.

13. Ensure equipment provided and the training environment are safe appropriate to the age, level of fitness & skill of the athlete

14. Show concern and caution towards sick & injured athletes Encourage athletes to seek medical advice and provide channel to do so. Maintain interest & support to the athlete during injury/sickness period.
