Dean and Russell Downing launch ‘Out of the Saddle’

Long time supporters of Bike Pure, Dean and Russell Downing have launched a new initiative aimed at raising money for good causes through their hugely successful charity, ‘Out of the Saddle’.

Each November,  the annual ‘Out of the Saddle’ charity dinner, held in England, has raised money for charities through the auction of rare cycling memorabilia. Due to the event’s success, the Downing brothers have launched a cycling club that will continue to promote it’s charity work and raise awareness.

As part of the project, Bike Pure have teamed up with Russ and Dean to support their project. An eye catching Out of the Saddle cycling kit has been designed to include the Bike Pure logo and colour scheme.

Speaking about the new team, Dean Downing of the Rapha Condor-Sarp team said  “This will be a great tool for supporting the charities we choose throughout the year so our aim is to get as many members in the club as possible with a portion of the membership fee going towards our chosen charity, which will change every twelve months.”

Team Sky’s Russell Downing echoed his older brothers words, “I’m really excited about where we are going with Out Of The Saddle and the continued association with Bike Pure. Along with Dean and John, we all put a lot of effort into the running of our annual dinner as this comes in our off-season. But at the moment I’m spending a whole lot of time travelling and racing so it’s great that the guys back home are pushing everything forward in my absence.”

He continued: “We aim to get as many members as possible to get the Out Of The Saddle message forward. We want to show what cyclists can do off of the bike by raising money for good causes and also with our association with Bike Pure show everyone what we believe in, so anyone out there who wants to join, please get in touch.”

Bike Pure are delighted that both Dean and Russ have set up this worthwhile venture to promote and raise money for charity. Both guys are long standing role models of Bike Pure and we wish to sincerely thank them for their roles as ambassadors for Bike Pure. We encourage riders of all abilities and ages to get out on their bikes and become involved with the Out of the Saddle Team to show your support for good causes.

If you wish to join Out of the Saddle or become more involved please email for details.
