The message that cycling only needs true, honest champions is as important in 2011 as ever. Bike Pure are delighted that this message will be shouted out at one of the first major races of the 2011 season, the 16thedition of Le Tour de Langkawi. We first partnered the event last year and are proud to be affiliated with the fantastic seven day event once again.
Le Tour de Langkawi has acquired enormous respectability on the cycling’s world stage as an elite event, in both organization and the quality of racing. The 2011 edition of the Malaysian race will begin on the beautiful island of Langkawi, and ending 1315.4 kilometers later in Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
Le Tour de Langkawi have commissioned 1000 of these special edition Bike Pure wristbands to show the world they support honest cyclists and the riders respect their competitors. Le Tour de Langkawi officials and staff will wear the specially commissioned Le Tour de Langkawi Bike Pure wristband to show their affiliation, teams and riders will also be offered the opportunity at the event.
Each element within cycle sport has an important role to play, including race organizers. Le Tour de Langkawi has shown through this partnership that they want their champions to win with honor and have respect for their fellow riders efforts.
Bike Pure feel this is a major step forward in highlighting clean cycle sport, not only important for the health of our riders but for the continued financial success and survival of our sport.
We are delighted Le Tour de Langkawi is continuing to partner with Bike Pure and show it’s commitment to anti-doping on a world wide scale. After a magical 2010 event where sprinters dominated the early stages before the climbers came to the fore in the now famous Genting highlands. Australian sprinter Michael Matthews took the first yellow jersey of the race and finished the season in a world champions jersey, proving the quality of the field the race attracts.
“Major events like Le Tour de Langkawi are put together at great expense and no organizer wishes to see his event tarnished with a doping scandal. Sponsors require positive media attention, and one single rider could destroy all this investment.”
