BikePure caught up with the Norwegian Professional mountain biker after an amazing last few years on the world cup circuit. She is one of those rare athletes who has been to the Olympics, representing her country in both the road and mountain bike. Lene rides with Specialized Factory racing for the last fours seasons and has signed thru until the end of 2011. The talented squad, all role models to our young cyclists world wide, all use BikePure as a medium to tell the world they ride clean.
BP: What started you riding you bike?
My brother and Father were riding for a local club in Stavanger. I joined them for training and I got addicted to biking.
BP: Why did you decide to concentrate on your MTB career?
Because I loved the advantage MTB game me. I like the technical part and ride for my own results.
BP: To date what you regard as your greatest success?
Last year I won my first Worldcup and I believe that’s my greatest success so far. I also got second in the Worlds the same year, but after leading the race until it was 2km left I felt a bit disappointed afterwards. But when I think about It now silver in the World`s is a big result for me.
BP: Did you parents influence you about getting involved with cycling?
Yes, my father. My parents have always supported me no matter what kind of sport I’ve been in to. They have used a lot of time traveling around with me and spend money so I could get where I’m today.
BP; what do you want for Christmas?
Hmm..I want a new toaster and turbo-mixer for the kitchen.
BP; Why do you not dope?
It`s not a option for me and I would never consider doping. I’m happy we have such a good moral in Norway about doping.
BP; Who would you invite to your dinner party?
Together with my boyfriend I would invite some friends over for dinner. Good food some wine and a relaxing evening.
BP : Interval training, turbo trainer or open mountain?
Open mountains for sure:) I like to just go out for a ride without thinking about time, heart-rate or any specific program for the training. Just bike for fun!
BP: How do you relax?
When I`m home at my parents farm and my mum serve nice fish for dinner.
BP; what do you wish for the 2011 season
I had no 2010 season because of illness. I had to stop halfway and my goal is to be back in the top 10 for 2011.
Hopefully I can be on the podium again as well.
BP; Are you happy with your chosen career in professional cycling?
Yes, I’ve already been biking for 11 years. Not full time or as professional all the years and next year will be my firth season for Specialized Factory Racing. I’m proud and lucky to be part of such a professional team.
