In the efforts to improve sport’s future, the combined anti-doping community must be reinforced with informative, educated journalism. It is the journalists of the world who control much of the information we receive and therefore can lead opinion and highlight faults or conduct that would lead our sport into further disrepute.
The difference between articles presented by ‘reporter’ and a ‘journalist’ is crucial to a solution to the drug problems that afflict sport. Journalists must seek the truth and see it as their duty to highlight misconduct and transgression. It is this fear of adverse media exposure that is an effective instrument to help keep our sport clean.
The dopinglist.com is such a tool to assist with productive, accurate communication. The Internet Anti-Doping Database has statistics on over 2000 cases of failed tests and up to date key information on the banned substances used. Although it is a commercial, non-free service, in the fight against the dopers and to improve anti doping practice and legislation, it is an essential tool.
By using the database you can establish who has been suspended, for how long, for which substance, at which event. You can also cross-search and filter in order to narrow the search down and see if trends are developing in certain products or areas. We wish to thank the dopinglist for recognizing our members efforts and giving us access to its collective information ,to help sharpen our reformation efforts.
The combination of endeavor, from all elements in the antidoping community, will eventually lead to workable solutions. Love life- love sport.
