Patricia Schwager (Cervélo)

BikePure caught up recently with Swiss professional, Patricia Schwager. Patricia has been riding for the past two seasons with the Cervélo test team and is a perfect role model for any young female rider: attacking racing  with honor.

 

 

Your form has been good this year; do you alter your program for season to season?

 Some things you keep because you know it works well for you. But as I work with a new coach since this year, I also changed things. It’s always good to have new inputs or ideas!

Your a very strong in the time trials, does this mean your in demand for a lead-out train?

I’m not really the person for to help in a bunch sprint, I’m good in closing gaps or works like this but for the final lead-outs we have other girls in the team.

 What is your greatest weakness?

 Sometimes I’m too impatient and I don’t like the cold.

 

Do you use a female specific Cervelo frameset?

No, we use the same bikes like the men’s team. We don’t need specific bikes; the Cervélo bikes are great anyway! I f you ever tried a P4 or a R3sl then you know what I mean…..

Do you think the female side to the sport gets enough coverage?

No, for sure not. It’s still a big problem! Little attention from the press means no interest from sponsors. The worlds RR in the past years showed how nice our races are, they are full with action!

What is your ideal race?

A mountain TT or a race in the summertime with heat, mountains and nice downhills.

Advice would you give to young Female bikers starting out?

Have fun on the bike! Go your way and never stop dreaming your dreams!

James bond or Jason Bourne?

  I like the James Bond movies!

Who has been the biggest influence on your career?

  It’s not only 1 person; there are a few peoples who believed in me and helped me to come one step higher! These peoples are very important and deserve a big thank you!
