The women’s world number one cyclist Marianne Vos (Nederland Bloeit) took another major victory in her career today by taking overall victory in the UCI World Cup.

Marianne’s 2nd place today in the Grand Prix Plouay, France, was enough for her to retain her World Cup lead, repeating her victory of 2009. Emma Pooley (GBr) Cervélo TestTeam won the race for the second successive year with a fine solo victory, breaking away from 4 other riders, which included Vos, in the closing stages.

Vos still had to place well and started the sprint from a long way out to clinch second on the day and was pleased to take the victory on what was a tough day for the Dutch rider. Vos is also the current World Cup Cyclo-Cross Champion and this shows the versatility and talent she has at her disposal, a sincere role model to all athletes worldwide.

Fellow Bike Pure supporter, Kirsten Wild (Cérvelo) finished 3rd overall in the World Cup to make it a great day all round.

How can that be the final standings? Doesn't the Nurnberger Altstadt points affect the final standings, or what that race canceled?

What can we say about Marianne? Great to see her sporting the blue band and a girl people can trust.
