US Champion Compton in Search for Title Sponsor

By: , , Filed in: News

Multiple US Cyclo-Cross Champion Katie Compton has been left without a major sponsor as her former title sponsor Planet Bike is in the process of selling to new buyers in 2010. Compton was left in a similar situation early last year and after a stressful summer of searching, finally tied up with Planet Bike in time for the start of the cyclo-cross season. Planet Bike enjoyed the successes of both Katie’s wins and worldwide publicity throughout the cyclocross season.

High on Compton’s list of goals is to represent the USA at mountain biking in the 2012 Olympics held in London. This entails racing the entire mtb season which will include the Continental Championships, World Cups and US Championships along with many other US races, culminating with the World mtb Championships in Canada. Katie’s recent cyclo-cross season got off to a fantastic start winning Cross Vegas and being the number one ranked women’s cyclo-cross rider for the majority of the season. Although the latter part of Katie’s season was marred with cramp and injury problems, she still had fantastic wins in several Cyclo-Cross World Cup events, holding the overall lead for the majority of the season, a first for any US rider. Cyclo cross enjoys a unique time slot during the year when the road season is in hiatus which allows the sport huge access to the media without being in competition with road racing which often dominates the headlines and media attention.

What Compton has to offer to any new potential sponsor is pretty much all year round positive media attention, something many top riders are not capable of producing. Katie has also been the cover shot of many of the world’s leading cycling publications and is clearly at the top of the sport in Cyclocross both in results and popularity, voted the best cyclo cross rider three years running in the Cyclingnews.com <http://Cyclingnews.com>  ‘Best of’ poll.

Katie is currently training hard at her home in Colorado Springs in preparation for her first race of the MTB season, the Continental Championships held in Guatemala April 11th.

As you are all aware, Katie, a sincere role model for all cyclists, is a strong supporter of the Bike Pure organization, justifying that a rider can compete at the highest level without performance enhancing drugs. A rider of Katie’s stature really shouldn’t be left without a sponsor so if anyone can lend support to the USA’s leading off roader please contact us here. Katie’s management team can provide any potential sponsors with a detailed prospectus on Katie’s career to date. We wish her every success in the forthcoming search and her support for Bike Pure.

It really is a fu**ed up sport when one of the USA's best clean athletes can't get a sponsor and the likes of Ricco, Rasmussen and Vino to name a few get shiny new contracts even before they have finished their bans!! Someone give the Compton's a call.
