Marianne Vos, riding for the Netherlands national team, started her road campaign where she finished her cyclo-cross season – on top of the podium, with victory in round one of the Women’s UCI World Cup at the 129km Trofeo Alfredo Binda in Italy.
Vos once again used her sprinting ability to see off her rivals on the slight uphill finish as several repeated attacks by a number of riders were thwarted in the approach to the finish. Marianne is the reigning World Cup winner and this result sets her off on the right foot in the defence of her World Cup title.
