Bike Pure Aussie Trio Pursuit to Gold

By: , , Filed in: News

The Australian quartet of Jack Bobridge, Rohan Dennis, Michael Hepburn and Cameron Meyer rode to World team Pursuit glory in Copenhagen tonight in a captivating race against noted rivals Team GB.

The GB team posted the fastest qualifying time earlier in the day but it was the Aussies who stayed in front for the duration of the 4km race, riding the fastest first kilometre in team pursuit history.

Cam Meyer was drafted into the final line up after being rested for the qualifying and it was a gamble that paid off as the Australian team lost a man with still a third of the race remaining. In a tense finish and with the GB Team crawling back up to the leaders, some fierce riding by Meyer, Bobridge and Hepburn helped them claim gold with an Australian record time of 03:55.654 with the GB guys posting a time of 03:55.806.

The complete Aussie team are part of Bike Pure along with Team GB rider Ben Swift. It’s a great sign for the future of our sport that these guys are part of our organization and represent the new generation of riders.

Congratulations to all the riders at the championships.
