Fastest Man on Earth!

By: , , Filed in: News

Bike Pure rider, the calm and collected Aussie, Jack Bobridge broke cycling’s sound barrier today at the Australian national Track championships.  Jack won the World U23 time trial championships last September and retained speed over the winter to set this amazing time.

He recorded a time of 4 minutes 14.427 in the individual 4,000m pursuit. Yes – 4 minutes 14 seconds!

This is the third fastest time in history, and the quickest-ever using a ‘regular’ position. The Garmin pro’s time has only been beaten by  Chris Boardman, then using the now-banned ‘Superman’, where the body is suspended in an arrow position, invented by the revolutionary Scot, Graham Obree.

Jack’s fast time  eclipses Bradley Wiggins’ Olympic record of 4 minutes 15.031 seconds, but he was not alone. Another young star aligned with Bike Pure, Rohan Dennis, also road a personal best to gain the silver medal. In doing so Rohan was the second man on the day to best Bradley McGee’s previous Australian record of 4 minutes 16.358 seconds. He clocked an earth shattering 4 minutes 15.764 seconds.

“It has been perfect conditions for track cycling, so that’s why you have seen so many fast times delivered here.” said Jack.

As of December 10, 2009 the IOC approved a UCI recommendation to restructure track events at the 2012 Games in London, which included the abandonment of the individual pursuit event. The loss of Olympic glory hasn’t killed the IP as the world championship remains  just six weeks away. An amazing showdown is predicted between Jack and American rising star Taylor Phinney.

With the world at their feet, 2010 is going to be massive! Well done guys.

Great job! He's a double winner: he was the fastest man and a pure one. Congratulations, Jack!
