What can we say about Marianne Vos! She is a woman who can do it all, yet still only 22. She went to the frozen start line this morning at the World cyclo cross championships outside Tabor, Czech Republic, as defending champion and hot favourite. With her nearest rival Katie Compton (Planet Bike) suffering recent injury problems, Vos didn’t disappoint. After the initial mix from the start our heroine sprinted to the front from where she road a perfect race, in icy conditions to claim her third cross title.
Vos also won in the cyclo cross worlds in 2006, when she was just a teenager. This amazing feat only shadowed by the fact that she won the UCI road title that same season. Today, in Tabor she displayed amazing strength, skill and ability that leaves her is the dominant force in women’s cycling . Silver went to 5 times world champion Hanka Kupfernagel, who road a skilful race, but had no response to the speed in the second half of the race of Vos. Congratulations to all the competitors in Tabor. Even to represent your nation is a victory in itself.
Young cyclists of the world take note: Marianne is a member of BikePure. Proof once again that our sport is improving and you can win clean, even at the highest level. As a role model for young female cyclists- this doesn’t get any better!
